View Studies
High-performance visibility and occlusion analysis.
The View Studies service uses Balarhinos' native ray tracing engine to analyze visibility from specific points or surfaces within your architectural model.
Why use View Studies?
In dense urban environments, protecting view corridors and optimizing visibility from facades is critical. Balarhinos allows you to test these conditions instantly as you design.
Key Features
- Occlusion Testing: Uses the same high-speed engine as the sunlight analysis to test if sightlines are blocked by surrounding context.
- View Corridors: Define specific direction vectors to ensure critical views (e.g., towards a landmark or the ocean) are maintained.
- Facade Visibility: Analyze which parts of a building facade have the best views or the most privacy.
How to use
- Define Viewpoints: Tag specific points or surfaces with the
sensorcategory. - Set Targets: Identify the landmarks or regions you want to see.
- Run Analysis: The system will cast rays from your viewpoints and return a visibility score or heatmap.
Use Cases
- Real Estate Value: Quantify the "quality of view" for different units in a residential development.
- Privacy Analysis: Identify areas of a building that are overlooked by neighbors.
- Public Space Safety: Analyze sightlines for safety and surveillance in public parks or plazas.
Combined with Live Mode, View Studies can guide you to rotate or shift a building massing to maximize premium views while the analysis heatmap reacts to every movement.
